Revision as of 04:34, 23 June 2020
This game uses the standard V5 character creation rules found in the V5 rule book on page 135 ( With a few exceptions, read below for more ).
All first time players should use the Neonate template, the Ancillae template is available to veteran players with storyteller approval.
The childer template is only available upon request and may not be granted to everyone.
Player characters should be Camarilla only.
Click on each clan to see their individual pages which will provide background information and character creation pointers for each of them. Clans with a * are primarily available to experienced players and should be avoided by players who are new to Vampire: The Masquerade and the World of Darkness.

Attributes
- Take one Attribute at 4; three Attributes at 3; five Attributes at 2
- You may only purchase one attribute at 5 and two attributes at 4 with Experience Points granted at creation.
- Health = Stamina +3.
- Willpower = Composure + Resolve.
Skills
- Pick one of the three skill distribution models found on page 136. Distribute points accordingly.
- Currently we will only accept the Jack of All Trades and Balanced spreads. The Specialist spread is banned.
- You cannot raise any skill above 4 at creation, not even with experience points. You may only have 2 skills at 4 at creation.
- For each of the following: Academics, Craft, Performance and Science Skills, if you have at least 1 point in one of those, you may take a free specialty in it. Take an additional free specialty of your choice.
- As a general rule: No dicepool at creation can exceed 7 (that means Attribute+Skill+Skill Specialty). We feel that this is important both for balance and the creation of a well rounded character. Avoid min-maxing, delegate your points to your character's strength as well to traits that speak to their background and personality. A good rule of thumb is to have at least one method for problem solving for each sphere (IE- physical, mental and social).
Disciplines
- Choose two of your clan Disciplines. Put two dots in one and one dot in the other.
- Neonates may only raise disciplines up to level two at creation, and may purchase one dot of out of clan discipline with experience points. The only exception is for Nosferatu who may purchase Mask of a Thousand Faces.
- Ancillae may only raise disciplines two disciplines up to level three at creation, and may purchase two dots of out of clan discipline with experience points.
- The following disciplines cannot be bought as out of Clan: Blood Sorcery, Oblivion & Protean.
Predator
- Pick your predator type ( found at page 175 of the player's rulebook. )
- Add one of the listed specialties, one dot to a listed discipline, and apply any associated Advantages or Flaws. ( Make sure these respect the limitations stated above )
- The Bagger and Blood Leech Predator Types are banned in this game.
Advantages
- Spend 7 points on advantages.
- Optional: You can gain 2 more points on Advantages, if you take 2 points in Flaws.
- Click on the following link to see a list of available, banned, limited and house ruled Advantages: Advantages.
- IMPORTANT: Some Loresheet powers/merits may be banned even though the Loresheets are shown as available or limited. Not every power is suited for this Chronicle. ALWAYS consult with a storyteller when adding Loresheets to your character sheet. Storytellers may choose to ban or houserule Loresheet powers/merits during the character creation process.
Convictions and Touchstones.
- Select one to three Convictions ( Page 172 of the V5 Rulebook )
- Create an equal number of touchstones, each connected to one Conviction.
Neonate Template.
- Embraced between 1940 and a decade ago.
- Pick 12th or 13th Generation.
- Blood Potency of 1.
- Set your humanity to 7.
- 15+15 extra experience points at creation. To help our new players catch up with the existing ones, we've decided to give newly created Neonate characters an extra 15 exp points, which brings it to a total of 30 exp.
Ancillae Template. Unavailable at this time!
- Embraced between 1780 & 1940.
- Pick 10th or 11th Generation.
- Blood Potency of 2.
- Add 2 points of Advantages.
- Set your Humanity to 6.
- 35 extra experience points at creation.
In this section you will find information on how to write your character's background, and what to include. Make sure you go down the list and check every item before submitting your sheet.
- Format: We do not require you to write a character background that is 10 pages long and makes use of elaborate prose. We do accept character backgrounds that come in the form as bullet point lists, especially for Neonates. That being said, if you wish to play an Ancilla, your character background needs to be up to snuff and take the V5 metaplot and cannon into account.
- Tropes to avoid: Avoid comic relief or silly character concepts, make characters that are believable as the dark, dignified monsters that kindred are supposed to be. Man children, Mary-Sues, Fish-Malkavians, Damsels in Distress, Anime bishounens and tentacle rape schoolgirls are all examples of characters archetypes that should be avoided at all cost.
- Mortal Years: Your character's years as a mortal are just as important in defining who and what they are as their life as a kindred. Make sure you detail their life as a mortal, including their birth, youth, adulthood, and important details such as what did they study? What trauma did they experience? What important life events shaped them as individuals? Who were the important figures in their lives? How were they introduced to the supernatural world? and so on.
- The Embrace: The embrace is another very important aspect of your character. First and foremost, make sure your character's embrace makes sense; Sires who are members of the Camarilla never embrace a childe lightly, they embrace the exceptional, the gifted, the fascinating. Make sure you answer the following questions: Why did their sire embrace them? Why did their sire think it was a good idea to bring them into the clan? What caused their sire to take notice? How did your character react and cope with their newfound undeath? How were their years as a Fledgling? What was their relationship with their sire? What did they do when they became neonates and were released from their sire's care?
- Kindred Years: Finally, make sure you detail what have they done since their release? Which city/cities have they resided in and what did they accomplish? Do they have a reputation that follows them around? Did they betray someone of note, or were they betrayed? What are their goals? Their ambitions? Their fears? What do they long for?
