Two templates are available in this chronicle; The Cliath and Fosterns. Only the Cliath template is available to all players. The Fostern template is reserved for players willing to take on leadership roles in the pack. ( Alpha, Spirit Guide, Armsmaster or Keeper ). Fosterns should also be characters who have attained some form of renown ( rank 2 ) before being shunned from Garou society. Only Cliaths may be newcomers to the city of Montreal, Fosterns must already have established history and relationships with Tao, Tu'Er Shen, and the other Fosterns.

Character Concept
- BEFORE you even begin working on filling a sheet, please check with a storyteller so you can hash out a viable character concept. Each character will be expected to fill in a niche within the pack, and the storyteller will provide you with elements and story beats that you must incorporate into your character's sheet and background story.
Attributes
- A maximum of one attribute at 5 is allowed.
- Do not min/max attributes to maximize discipline dice pools, ensure that your character is believable. Make sure to pick specialties for all attributes at 4 and above. You can find specialties here: Attribute Specialties
- Physical Attributes should always be Primary or Secondary.
Abilities
- No abilities above 3 before the freebie phase of character creation.
- Remember that an ability at level 3 means that you are proficient enough in that ability to make a professional career out of it, as such 3s and up should be fairly sparse.
- As a general rule: No dicepool at creation can exceed 7 (that means Attribute+Skill). We feel that this is important both for balance and the creation of a well rounded character. Avoid min-maxing, delegate your points to your character's strength as well to traits that speak to their background and personality. A good rule of thumb is to have at least one method for problem solving for each sphere (IE- physical, mental and social).
Powers
- Pick your character's gifts from the Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th anniversary edition book as per the character creation rules stated below.
- For Cliaths, Pick 3 rank 1 gifts. One of these gifts must be picked from your character's former Tribe, one from their former Auspice, and one from their Breed.
- For Fosterns, Pick 3 rank 1 gifts. One of these gifts must be picked from your character's former Tribe, one from their former Auspice, and one from their Breed. Pick 3 additional gifts; while these gifts can be either Rank 1 or Rank 2, they must still be picked from your character's Breed, or former Auspice/Tribe.
Backgrounds
- Most backgrounds are limited at creation, below you will see the maximum dots available at creation for each background, depending on your template. Only backgrounds found in the V20 core book are accepted in this chronicle. A * means house rules apply to this background Visit the House Rules page for more information. A * next to a background means it can be picked multiple times. A purple number represents the number of times a background can be picked at creation. Note that if a background does not appear on this list, then it is banned.

Merits & Flaws
For Garou characters, we only accept merits from the W20 books. Ex Infernum Garou Merits & Flaws page for the list.
In this section you will find information on how to write your character's background, and what to include. Make sure you go down the list and check every item before submitting your sheet.
- Format: We do not require you to write a character background that is 10 pages long and makes use of elaborate prose. That being said, we do require a background story of at least a few paragraphs.
- Tropes to avoid: Avoid comic relief or silly character concepts, make characters that are believable. Man children, Mary-Sues, Fish-Malkavians, Damsels in Distress, Lovesick Emo Boys, Anime Bishounens and Tentacle Rape Schoolgirls are all examples of characters archetypes that should be avoided at all cost.
- Birth & Youth: Go over your character's years from birth through childhood and all the way to adolescence; Who were his parents? How was his childhood? School life? Any notable relationships, events or hurdles that left a trace on your character's personality? What were his interests? How did he cope with puberty?.
- The Change & Adulthood: The Change is an extremely important event in the life of a Werewolf. How did the change occur for your character? What triggered it? Any particularly traumatic fallout or casualties as a result? How were they introduced to life as a Garou? How was their life in the pack? How did they deal with this change? What exploits or events helped define them as individuals?
- Exile: How and why was your character eventually stripped of his rank and renown and exiled from Werewolf society? How did they cope and/or survive with their new life? How were they discovered by Tu'Er Shen and brought into the fold as members of the Lost Boys?
- Relationships with other packmates: How do they perceive their new pack mates? If they are Alpha, Beta, Spirit Guide, Armsmaster or Keeper, how did they come to claim this position? How did they come to know each other?
