On this page, you will find tips and tricks on how to edit a sheet.

Tip 1: The difference between Locked & Edit Mode

This is the big one. The little purple lock at the top of the page allows you to toggle between Locked and Edit modes. Both are equally important as, while Edit Mode allows you to, quite predictably, edit your sheet... Locked Mode on the other hand is what could be also known as Play mode. In Locked mode, you are able to do a handful of key manipulations that include; adding or removing superficial or aggravated damage levels to your health or willpower, as well as increase or decrease your character's hunger.

In truth, once your sheet is approved, there should be very little reason for you to go into Edit mode, as storytellers will handle adding XP requests and XP spends, as well as modifying the sheet accordingly. Although you will be expected to add Discipline powers on your own.

Tip 2: Managing Health, Willpower and Hunger in Locked mode

Managing Health and Willpower while in Locked mode is more or less the same. Simply start by clicking on Willpower or Health as shown below;

This will cause the selected tracker to turn yellow, and a new bar will pop up just below it, as shown in the picture below;

On that bar, you are then able to add or subtract Aggravated or Superficial Damage levels. Aggravated Damage levels will show up as a red X, while superficial damage levels will show up as yellow bars. This will help you keep track of your character's current health and willpower from one play session to another.

Managing hunger is even easier, as you only need to click on dots to add or remove hunger levels as appropriate. Note that when you use the Rouse command on the Realm of Darkness bot, failed Rouse checks will automatically increase your character's hunger. So realistically, you should only need to remove hunger levels when your character hunts.

As an example, we can see that the character shown below has likely used 3 willpower points, suffered 2 levels of superficial and 1 level of aggravated damage, and currently sits at a Hunger Level of 2;

Tip 3: Edit Mode, is it useless?

The answer is; almost. There aren't many occasions where you'll need to enter edit mode, except maybe to edit your character's equipment, notes, haven or humanity. You should already be familiar with how to edit your sheet since you already created it. Note that storytellers will be the ones adding XP, or chronicling your XP expenditures on your sheet.
