Scions Community Rules
On this page, you will find Fever Dream's community rules. We expect each of our players to acknowledge and respect these rules as best they can. We strive to make this game and community into a fun, welcoming space. Just like any other communities out there, we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently ban problematic players.
1. General Server Etiquette
1.1 - General Decency: Basically, don't be a creep, an asshole, an elitist, or a drama queen. Examples of reprehensible behavior include, but are not limited to; bullying, emotional manipulation and harassment, actively avoiding other players and their characters, cliques and gaslighting. Be it in public or private, these kinds of behaviors will be grounds for sanction or permanent removal.
1.2 - Bigotry: Discrimination will not be tolerated, be it racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia. Do keep in mind that this does not mean that dark senses of humor are prohibited. Risqué jokes about touchy subject are allowed, just make sure that your intent is clear.
1.3 - Inflammatory Subjects: The current state of the world is pretty fucked up, we get it. However, for many of us, games like these are a form of escapism. We ask that players avoid bringing up issues about politics, religion, and most social justice issues. Players are expected to de-escalate heated arguments of their own accord, but storytellers might step in and mute players who just refuse to back down. The internet is a vast place with countless tribunes for you to use, this place is not it.
2. Out Of Character Rules
2.1 - Respect Your Storytellers: Always remember that your storytellers are here trying to entertain you out of the goodness of their hearts. We encourage constructive criticism but flat out lack of respect will not be tolerated.
2.2 - Respect Fellow Players: The same rule goes for players, we ask that all our storytellers and players respect each other.
2.3 - One Degree of Separation: This is a very important rule. What happens in-character stays in-character, and what happens out of character stays out of character. Players who cause drama because they can't make the distinction between the game and real life may be asked to leave.
2.4 - Don't Poison The Well: What this means is, don't use your out of character knowledge to influence in-character events. Here are two examples of what we don't want to see; Firstly, we don't want Neonates/Ancillae player characters describing life in Carthage as if they were there or dropping names like they have 10 dots in kindred history lore. Secondly; Just because you saw a player talk about how their character has a weakness to silver, doesn't mean your character can know or can use it against them. Remember; just because you know about it doesn't mean your character knows about it.
3. General Roleplaying Rules & Etiquette
3.1 - Don't Mess With The Flow: Keeping scenes reactive and engaging is important. If you're distracted or can't keep up and reply promptly to other players' emotes, simply excuse your character from the scene. This is especially true for Storyteller run sessions where things need to keep moving at a fast pace. Whenever a player is unresponsive during a scene, Storytellers reserve the right to take control of their character, or excuse their character from the scene entirely.
3.2 - Don't Abuse Private Scenes: We all know that player, the one who almost exclusively plays in private, one on one scenes with their favorite players. Don't be that player. Socializing between characters is important to the flow a Vampire: The Masquerade game.
3.3 - Bumping Nasties: Smut happens, everyone loves smut. However, we ask that players take their X-Rated role playing to private scenes. If things get a bit too heated for public channels, simply fade to black and move the scene elsewhere.
3.4 - Pausing Scenes: There should be NO paused scenes unless everyone in the scene agrees to the pause and can resume it or is okay writing themselves out if others resume. If you have to leave and others are playing, exit your character from a scene. If you must pause a scene, the scene should NOT continue in a public room. Take them to a private room. Do not take them to PM. You can engage in a new scene if you have one paused, but only if you firmly believe the new scene and the paused scene will not have an effect on each other (i.e. if the paused scene is heavy combat, you may not want to enter a new scene unless it's fluff social stuff that can be backdated before the big heavy combat scene).
3.5 - Exit Channels when your character leaves!: Do not linger in IC channels if your character is not present! Do not linger in private channels even if you have paused a scene. Enter the private channel only when all parties are ready to continue a scene.
3.6 - Do Not Join Multiple Scenes at Once!: Without ST permission.
3.7 - Narrative format: We utilize a narrative third person past tense style of writing in scenes. i.e. Bob walked up to the bar and nodded to James, "Hey man, what's up?" sort of thing. Do not use ::Bob walked up to the bar:: or /me or whatever else. Also do not narrate any internal dialog or emotions. Only narrate what's reflected in the character's demeanor.
3.8 - No Teleporting: If your character is across the room IC, or just enters and two others are talking quietly somewhere... do not assume you hear their conversation. IC have your character walk towards them. Don't teleport yourself across the room. Also if you have to exit one scene to get to another location where people are actively playing... wait a while before entering for travel time.
4. Game Policies
4.1 - Player Character Death: Sometimes, things go south for player characters, and we try to respect the dice as much as possible. However, we don't enjoy killing player characters left and right, and we know losing a beloved character can be a bummer. As such, unless your character does something really, really dumb, we reserve the right to use our storyteller powers to 'save' player characters.
4.2 - Disagreements: There may come a day where you will disagree with a call made by one of our Storytellers. In the case of such a disagreement, we expect players to take their issue to us in a respectful and level headed manner. In the case of a disagreement during a storyteller run session, please reach out to us after the session has wrapped up to avoid holding the rest of the group back.
