Server Rules
Rule 1: This is an Adult Game
1.1 Black Days is an adult game, as such all players are required to be 18 of age. Players who are proven or suspected to be below 18 will be removed until proven otherwise.
1.2 While smut is allowed, we ask that players respect each other's limits when it comes to roleplay of sexual nature. Also, it should go without saying that underage characters are strictly forbidden, and may be only brought into play by Storytellers as plot devices.
Rule 2: Out of Character (OOC) Etiquette.
2.1 The World of Darkness community is sadly renowned for being host to a fair share of elitist assholes. We ask that experienced WoD players check that attitude at the door. While we want the game to be serious, we don't want to lose sight of the fact that we're all here to have fun and we don't plan on being anal know-it-alls like on many other games. A lot of aspects of the World of Darkness are vague and left to interpretation. Each storyteller and player will have their 2 cents to add. If you feel that something is out of character, please refer the issue to a storyteller and let us make the call.
2.2 In this regard, we also ask that new players be open to constructive criticism, coaching and guidance.
2.3 Respect each other in Out of Character ( OOC ) chat - keep the drama in-character only. This is pretty straightforward. Players who blatantly disrespect others will be muted temporarily. Repeated offenses may result in a player being muted in ooc permanently, or being flat out banned depending on the gravity of the situation. This includes any form of harassment, in or out of character.
2.4 This game is not a safe space, and we will not enforce trigger warning of any kind. That being said, being offensive and edgy with the intent to hurt or upset others is subject to the same rules as the previous point. We highly recommend that topics regarding religion, politics or social justice issues be kept to a minimum. If a discussion leads to heated arguments, we expect players will be adult enough to agree to disagree. Players who refuse to end a discussion on a hot button issue will be muted. Repeated offenses are subject to bans as well.
2.5 We will absolutely not tolerate any form of sexism, ageism, racism, homophobia or trans-phobia.
2.6 That being said, we do love to joke around, offensive humor is allowed and encouraged as long as the INTENT remains respectful.
Rule 3 - In Character (IC) Etiquette
3.1 Don't poison the well. Make sure to keep a clear distinction between what you know as a player and what your character knows. If players are found cheating and purposefully using information that their character should not be privy to, scenes may be retconned and in some extreme cases your character may be retired. Just don't do it.
3.2 Don't form OOC cliques and single out other players/characters. Not only is it a shitty thing to do, cliques are also the main reason why WoD games die out ( After petty drama of course ).
3.3 Don't Godmode. You should never control another player character, nor should your character be omnipotent.
3.4 Character Death is sometimes inevitable in a World of Darkness game. That being said, it is not something that should be done without ample reasons. The CoD world is cutthroat and your life can be taken away from you should you fuck up one too many times. As storytellers we will warn players at least a few times before that time comes, so you will have at least two chances to clean up your character's act and redeem them. Player characters killing other player characters without storyteller involvement should be avoided at all cost.
3.5 Don't multitask while in character if you have a tendency to zone out. It always sucks when you're focused on roleplaying and your partner takes 15 to 30 minutes between each emote. This is a live chat game and prompt replies keep scenes engaging and fun. As such, if you are in a group scene, each player should emote in turn. Should a player take more than 10 minutes to reply after the last player's reply, you will be allowed to skip their turn. If someone has not replied for more than 45 minutes, players will be allowed to puppeteer the idle character and excuse them out of the scene. The only exception to that rule would be if all involved players agree to a slower paced scene.
3.6 Do not idle in IC channels unless you are present and playing actively.
Rule 4 - Don't be a Creep
4.1 Yes this is an adult game. But this is and will always be a story driven game first and foremost. Players who don't participate in the game's world and setting and only engage in smut may be asked to take it elsewhere.
4.2 Respect other players' limits and preferences. Don't judge other players' limits or preferences. Don't pressure others to take part in roleplay they don't want to participate in. While non consensual things are allowed to happen between characters, we ask that a 'Fade to Black' be used if your scene partner is uncomfortable with roleplaying certain aspects. Players can either end the scene or pick up after the fact.
