When you think of Camarilla and New Orleans, the first name that comes to mind is Karen Chartry. Along with Avery Meeks of Clan Nosferatu, Karen is probably the longest standing figurehead of kindred society in New Orleans. Extremely well traveled, sharp, educated, wealthy, successful and influential, Karen wields the powers usually associated with her clan with calculated ruthlessness. After Marcel Guilbeau's untimely passing, it was clear that she would be the favorite to replace him as Prince... which she did, for a short time. But having witnessed first hand the complacency with which Guilbeau and his Primogen council handled the Hurricane Katrina crisis and the Anarch War that followed, and almost losing the city as a result, Karen instead chose to abolish the political structure that had always been in place in New Orleans. With the Meeks' support, she instead established a new system; a council of Krewes which would be given the power to rule New Orleans in the name of the Camarilla. But with that power also came the responsibility of upholding the traditions and keeping the city free of threats to the Traditions and Kindred society as a whole. By making each Krewe accountable for keeping the city clean, Karen hoped to avoid another crisis like the ones New Orleans had faced in the past. She currently leads Les Fleurs du Jardin d'Eden, a socio-political Krewe in charge of keeping the local government in check and of manipulating the social and financial elites in favor of Kindred society... among other things.
Of average height, Karen is a stunning beauty; with a curvy, bombshell figure, silky dark hair that she often keeps slicked back or loose in romantic curls, plump lips often adorned in bold red lipstick and a sultry gaze, Karen seems to have it all. Stylish beyond measures, she is always adorned with designer clothing and accessories and carries herself with poise and grace. As is the case with most Ventrue, Karen commands attention when she enters a room. A known ice queen, Karen is often hard to approach and has a tendency to distrust those outside of her circle of associates.
